Some naysayers believe quarterback Kyler Murray will be a draft bust due to his size, and it seems that Murray is doing what he can to dispell that.
According to NBC Sports’ Peter King, the nearly 5-foot-10 NFL hopeful has added anywhere from 13 to 16 pounds to his frame heading into the NFL Scouting Combine.
One report stated that Murray is up to 203 pounds, while another said he was up to 206. During the 2018 season with Oklahoma, Murray was listed at 190 pounds.
Since Murray is a shorter quarterback, there were some concerns that he would be too light to be an effective NFL quarterback. If he’s added muscle mass in the last month or two, it only helps his draft stock.
Murray has drawn comparisons to Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson due to their similar build — Wilson is listed as 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds.
Another question NFL teams might pose is with the added weight, will Murray’s speed be affected? He was known at Oklahoma for being a dual threat with his agility.
