NFL Media reported the deal is for two years and carries a maximum value of $8.1 million.
Williams has certainly earned his keep in his first season in Kansas City after a pair of games topping 100 yards from scrimmage in Kareem Hunt’s absence. He also has five touchdowns over the last three games.
Williams, 26, signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Oklahoma in 2014, but left Miami in March.
The Chiefs (11-4) have already clinched a playoff berth, but will chase the AFC West title and home-field advantage when they host the Raiders (4-11) to close the regular season at 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday.
