Multiple Calgary players were dealt suspensions stemming from their matchup with the Wild on Thursday.
Friday, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced defenseman Mark Giordano has been suspended for two games for kneeing the Wild’s Mikko Koivu, and forward Ryan Lomberg will have to sit out one game for leaving the bench on a legal line change for the purpose of starting a fight.
Giordano’s offense came at the 6:17 mark in the third period, and was originally assessed for a minor penalty for tripping at the time. Along with the suspension, the 12-year NHL veteran will forfeit $72,580.64.

Lomberg’s actions also occurred in the third period. He was assessed a minor penalty for instigating, a major for a fight and a game misconduct. He will serve the automatic one-game suspension in addition to the game added by the NHL Department of Player Safety. Lomberg will also forfeit $7,634.40.
The Flames went on to win 2-0 over the Wild. They moved to 18-9-2 after the victory.
