Andy Dalton suffered a thumb injury in the second quarter of the Bengals’ 35-20 loss to the Browns on Sunday, but it doesn’t appear to be as serious as the team initially thought.
The Cincinnati quarterback was scrambling after a botched snap when he injured it. Dalton went back to the locker room and didn’t return to the game.
He had X-Rays taken, which reportedly came back negative for any breaks, according to NFL.com. It’s unclear how long he will be out or if he will miss any time at all.
Backup quarterback Jeff Driskel came into the game to try and rally the Bengals, but the team still lost their fifth game out of six.
Before he was injured, Dalton threw for 100 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Driskel finished the day with 155 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.
