NFL free agency rumors: Saints trying to sign Brandon Marshall

With Dez Bryant out for the season, the Saints are moving forward in filling their open receiver position.

New Orleans is looking into signing Brandon Marshall and he could start practice as early as next week, ESPN reported Sunday.

The Saints were dealt a blow right after signing Bryant, when he tore his Achilles in practice. He will be sidelined eight months and joined four other receivers on the Saints injured reserve — Cameron Meredith, Ted Ginn, Tommylee Lewis and Travin Dural.

Marshall reportedly impressed the Saints during his workout Tuesday, but the team ultimately went with signing Bryant. With Bryant now out for the year, the team is willing to circle back to Marshall.

The six-time Pro Bowl selection was released from the Seahawks right before the NFL trade deadline Oct. 30.

He has also played for the Giants, Broncos, Dolphins, Bears and Jets.
