NFL free agency rumors: Jets to release WR Terrelle Pryor due to injury

Terrelle Pryor’s time with the Jets appears to be over — at least for now.

New York plans to release the 29-year-old wide receiver as a result of an injury, though the team is open to bringing him back when he is healthy, according to a report from ESPN. Pryor has a tear in his groin and is likely to miss two weeks.

The former Ohio State quarterback has 14 receptions for 235 yards through six games in his first season with New York. But he had previously expressed unhappiness with his role, saying: “I don’t like it.”

Pryor, who agreed to a one-year, $6 million deal with the Jets in March as a free agent, caught a touchdown pass in each of the Jets’ last two games.
