Dwayne Haskins has his eye set on a few things as he pursues a NFL career.
The former Ohio State quarterback wants to be the top play caller selected in this year’s draft and if it were up to him, he’d land in New York.
“I’m looking forward to showing I’m the best quarterback in the class,” Haskins told reporters before a busy weekend at the NFL combine, via SI.com.
Haskins grew up in New Jersey and would love to get a chance to return home and play in front of family and friends.
“I grew up a Giants fan so it would be a dream come true going back home where my family is and play for that great franchise,” he said, via ESPN. “There are a lot of really great skill players [in New York], so either way, it happens throughout this process I’m just going to be happy to be in the NFL. New York, of course, would be a great spot for me.
“New York would be a dream spot for me.”
In order to be the top quarterback selected, he’ll have to best the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner in Kyler Murray. Murray has been linked to the Cardinals, who have the first overall pick while the Giants have the sixth.
If he were to end up in New York he would join an offense with stars like running back Saquon Barkley, wide receivers Odell Beckham and Sterling Shepard, and tight end Evan Engram.
“I feel like it would be very prolific,” Haskins added. “I knew Saquon since I was a sophomore in high school. We both went to the Rivals camp together, got close with him, talked to a few of the other skill players but I feel like they have a lot of great talent offensively. [It] would be a lot of fun.”
