Minnesota boasts two of the best receivers in the NFL, and one recently opened up about their bond on ProFootballTalk’s PFT PM podcast.
The one-two punch of Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs have propelled the Vikings to a 5-3-1 record and second in the NFC North after opening the season with only one win in their first four games — that stretch of the schedule included the team’s lone tie and two losses.
Thielen, who is nearing 1,000 yards just passed the halfway point of the season, and Diggs share a special bond. Diggs, who is playing his fourth season in Minnesota, opened up about their relationship as quarterback Kirk Cousins’ favorite targets to PFT’s Mike Florio.
“For us like, if the ball’s thrown to him I expect the best out of him,” Diggs said of Thielen. “If the ball’s thrown to me he expects the best out of me. You know, as far as giving opportunity, make the most out of your opportunity, and we have a lot in common where as we don’t make excuses. We either make it happen or we don’t, so that’s our mindset.
“That’s like my brother, so I want the best for him at all times regardless of the situation. I have a genuine heart and I know he does too as well so as far as success and what it comes with, you know, a lot of people try to I would say kind of make me think that they feel a way about us being so close. They want us to be the opposite. They want somebody to be I would say kind of selfish but you know that’s my brother so I support him 100 percent.”
Thielen has 947 yards on 78 receptions. He’s scored seven touchdowns for the Vikings. Diggs has recorded 587 yards and four scores on 58 catches.
The pair will play big roles in the team’s potential playoff run.
Minnesota has an important divisional matchup slated for Sunday. The Vikings will travel to Chicago to face the first-place Bears.
