The Chargers have been among the worst when it comes to rushing the passer this season, but they’re about to get a huge boost from star defensive end Joey Bosa.
NFL Network reports that Bosa has been cleared for limited participation in practice this week. A lingering foot injury has kept him out since the beginning of the season, and he’s shown considerable improvement recently.
Big news from the #Chargers: Coach Anthony Lynn says star pass-rusher Joey Bosa is going to practice today in a limited capacity. He may need some time to get in football shape. But very positive news.

The Chargers are 7-2 through nine games. They’ve been overshadowed by the Chiefs, but L.A. firmly sits in second place in the AFC West. It’s difficult to fly under the radar when you’re on a six-game winning streak, but the Chargers have managed to do it.
Getting Bosa back to improve their pass-rush could be what puts them over the top.
Even without their premier defensive player, the Chargers boast the NFL eighth-best defense, allowing 20.7 points per game. However, they have recorded only 13 sacks, which ranks them 29th in the league.
Bosa alone racked up 12.5 sacks last season. The third-year Ohio State product already has 23 career sacks, and he hasn’t even played a snap for the Chargers this season. He’s an important part of the team’s future, so they won’t rush to throw him back into the fire.
If Bosa progresses quickly, though, he can be a valuable asset for the Chargers as the regular season comes to a close.
