Quarterback Nick Mullens had one of the best debuts 49ers history, but his future as a starter for San Francisco was kept under wraps … until now.
On Tuesday, the 23-year-old revealed coach Kyle Shanahan would make him the starter for San Francisco’s Week 10 game against the Giants.
Nick Mullens said Kyle Shanahan told him he is starting.

When Mullens took over for an injured C.J. Beathard, who replaced injured starter Jimmy Garoppolo, on Nov. 1 against Oakland, Mullens finished with a passer rating of 151.9 — second to Titans QB Marcus Mariota as the best in that category in a debut performance.
He finished 16-of-22 passing for 262 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in the 49ers’ 34-3 blowout victory versus the Raiders.
It was the Niners’ first win since Week 2.
