The play occurred in the first period of Ottawa’s 4-3 overtime loss to Vegas on Sunday. Borowiecki came across the ice and delivered a high hit to Eakin shortly after he received the puck in his own zone.
Another hit and maybe another suspension for Mark Borowiecki.

Eakin left after the hit and did not return.
“It was a big hit. … I don’t think Borowiecki exactly wanted to go over there and hit Cody Eakin in the head … it was definitely the right call, but I don’t think there was any intent to hurt the guy,” Golden Knights coach Gerard Gallant said after the game. “Borowiecki is a hard-nosed guy, and the hit caught (Eakin) in the head obviously, but I don’t think there was intent.”
Borowiecki was also suspended one game for elbowing Bruins defenseman Urho Vaakanainen last week. The game Sunday was his first since returning from that suspension.
