Kwon Alexander’s season could be over.
The Buccaneers’ fears were confirmed Monday as an MRI revealed the fourth-year linebacker suffered a torn ACL in Sunday’s 26-23 overtime win against the Browns, ESPN reported, citing an unidentified source.
Alexander suffered the injury a few plays before halftime and did not return, though he walked off the field on his own power.
The 24-year-old logged seven tackles and a pass deflection before exiting with the injury. He ranks second on the team in tackles (45) this season behind fellow linebacker Lavonte David (48).
Alexander is in the final year of his rookie contract and had been in talks with Tampa Bay about a possible extension. However, his injury could complicate negotiations.
The Buccaneers (3-3) are slated to visit the Bengals (4-3) at 1 p.m. ET Sunday.
