The Saints placed starting wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. on injured reserve, but he will be eligible to return for the postseason.
The speedy receiver, who had been listed on the injury report for weeks with a knee injury, sat out Week 5 in hopes he’d be able to recover during the Saints’ Week 6 bye.
The 33-year-old Ginn had 12 catches, 135 yards and two touchdowns in four games. He had one of his best NFL seasons last year, with 53 catches for 787 yards and four touchdowns.
With Ginn sidelined, Tre’Quan Smith, a rookie out of UCF, will get more playing time.
