Redskins QB Colt McCoy leaves game with lower leg injury, will not return

Colt McCoy exited Monday’s game against the Eagles with a lower leg injury and the Redskins later announced he would not return.

McCoy, who was taking over for an injured Alex Smith, suffered the injury in the second quarter and was walking with a noticeable limp. He had x-rays taken in the team’s locker room, but the severity of his injury has yet to be released.

Mark Sanchez replaced McCoy under center.

Sanchez joined the Washington organization in early November to serve as a backup to McCoy. He received his first regular season action since 2016.
